Pen used to be one of the most important tools throughout people's life. When we were kids, we learned to use a crayon to express our imagination and creativity. When we entered primary school, we learned to use pencils to record daily life and convey our ideas. The pen is the natural extension of people’s minds and bodies. However, it becomes awkward as the pen can not help people communicate with the world any longer in the information and electronic era.
Therefore, I tried to explore how the pen could interact with the surroundings.
Individual Project
Oct. 2020
in China
Arduino prototype on how to interact with the light.
Concept videos for interaction with a speaker and TV.
I collected different kinds of pens and tried to use them in different ways.
Then, I explored how to use these gestures to interact the pen with concrete objects.
After analyzing different methods to use the pen, I came up with the most intuitive gestures.
I created an Arduino prototype to control the lamp with some gestures.
Besides controlling the lamp, I explored the other possibilities to interact with a speaker and television. I shot some videos to express my ideas.
